Story:

           phillip1 My life changed for the best in September 2012, when my sister, Kimberly, referred me to Richard Wayne at Instinct Fitness. Having just graduated college, I had let my body and health habits slip out of control. I was a whopping 238 lbs. with a 5’9’’ frame when I first started with Richard. At the start we focused solely on fat loss through a strict meal plan of lean proteins and staggered whole-grain based, carb cycles (I continue with a specific version of this meal plan with great success today). For the first two months we only did cardio and the pounds flew right off, but I was eager to mix things up at that point. At around three months in, I had reached a weight and body fat level that allowed us to program in some weight training. We built up endurance and strength over time and now Richard and I follow similar, if not the exact same workout regimen (weight, reps, everything).

 phillip2Currently, I workout four times a week with Richard focusing on building lean muscle mass while keeping my body fat percentage as low as possible. I can honestly say that I am as healthy as I have ever been in my life and I focus on improving every day. Without a doubt Richard Wayne has changed my life in countless ways. Not only have I become MUCH healthier and better looking physically through this transformation, I am even stronger spiritually and emotionally. It makes me so proud to know what I have accomplished with Richard and I know that I could not have done it without him. Working with Richard was my first experience with a personal trainer and I didn’t really know what to expect, but I had low expectations of both him and myself to make real progress. I was always fairly fit and played sports in high school, but had never worked out regularly. Richard did a great job of assessing my current fitness level and crafting both a diet and training plan to reflect my goals. He’s been very flexible when scheduling gym time around my work schedule. He strikes a good balance between encouragement and demanding more from me in a way that compels me to push past what I think are my limits. More than anything, I feel like Richard cares about me and helping me become a better, more fit person. To top it off, he gets results. After only 4 months, I’m the most fit and strongest I’ve ever been thanks to his help. Whether you’re young or older, fit or not so much, Richard can meet you where you are and help you get better. I highly recommend his training services.

I was extremely thin all my life eating whatever I wanted and not working out.  Then I reached age 30 and noticed things were changing.  I suddenly had to exercise to remain the size I wanted.  In 2009 my best friend passed away.  I became depressed, ate for comfort and had no motivation to work out.  Needless to say I gained a lot of weight.  After a few years I began walking for exercise and eating healthy, but I could not get back the body I wanted.

In September 2012, my friend Marina was eating healthy, and I noticed she started losing weight and shaping up quickly.  I asked how she was getting such great results.  She told me it was from working with her trainer, Richard Wayne.  I decided to schedule a consultation and training session with him.  After one session I was hooked.  I could tell Richard would provide the motivation and the body sculpting knowledge I needed.  I adjusted my eating habits and worked out 2 – 3 days per week.  I started seeing results immediately.  I looked better in my 40’s than I did in my 20’s.

About a year ago I twisted my knee walking my dogs.  My activities in the gym became limited.  Richard was incredible working with me to figure out what I was able to do without pain and causing further injury while achieving desired results.  I had surgery on my knee three weeks ago.  The strength in my legs have contributed to an unbelievably quick recovery.  With my doctor’s approval, I was back in the gym two weeks after surgery doing light cardio and leg strengthening exercises.  Richard has a gift for motivating people.  No matter how tired I am, he makes me want to push myself to the limit.  I never would have made it to where I am post-op without Richard’s experienced training and encouragement.

IMG_1031I have been training with Richard for more than three years.  Richard is a great motivator, and always provides positive reinforcement.  Even more important, he will sit down with you before the training begins to discuss goals, motivations, diet and your health history to ensure that his workout plan is specifically customized to suit your needs and goals.  I highly recommend Richard’s services to anyone who wants to lose weight, get fit and look great!

katiepFor the last several years, I had thought that getting back into shape was an impossibility. I thought I had left myself go way too far and there was no turning back, unless I was to go on some crazy tv show. Over the last few years I had tried almost all every fad diet and diet pill made and NOTHING worked. I thought I had tried it all and there were no other options. With a full time job and going to school, I thought I didn’t have time for the gym, or a trainer. Then I met Richard.

Having danced for over half of my life, the only thing that interested me in terms of exercise was Zumba. I had been trying Zumba for about 6 months and had seen minimal results, but what I didn’t realize, was the role my diet was playing. I needed not only a motivator, but also to be educated. Having a personal trainer, I thought my body would bounce back in no time because of the intensity. I had no idea the role diet played in the goals I was setting. I thought that the weight would just fall off. Man was I wrong, but in a good way. Not only did I have a lot of work ahead of me, I also had a lot to learn. During my first session, I thought there was no way, no how that I would soon be doing what others were doing in the gym. Not only has Richard assisted in meeting my goals, he has exceeded them. He has done more than just “train me.” He has changed my life and I cannot thank him enough.

Nowadays when I’ve had a bad day or I’m stressed, I can’t wait to get to the gym. The old me couldn’t wait to get home on the couch with my forgiving glass of wine. I have worked in gyms in the past and came into this with a preconceived notion about trainers. Richard has been the complete opposite from every stereotype I had in my head. He listens to my body and has not set goals that are unrealistic or unattainable. He is not just some trainer that wanted my money. Richard genuinely has my best interest and goals in mind. He is extremely knowledgable and has exceeded my expectations in what I thought I could learn from him. Being in the medical field, I am always interested in how things work in the body. I asked him how one of the supplements I was taking was helping me and I was blown away by his answer. It was like something out of my biochemistry book. I had no clue the wealth of knowledge I was working with.

Richard has been one of the best things that has happened to me in a long time. I now love my body again and feel sexier than ever. Shopping is fun again. People who are close to me have commented to me that even my mood has changed. The relationship I have developed with him is now a friendship that I cannot picture my life without. He has made me love exercising and going to the gym.

I am telling you, that if you choose instinct fitness, you will not be disappointed. It is a life changing commitment that you will want to make, and more importantly, maintain for life.

stephWhat can I say about Richard? I am prepping for my first NPC competition and I am incredibly thankful for all his guidance. My progress is has been awesome! Richard is always in contact and available to help or answer any questions I might have about my diet or if I’m unsure of an exercise. He doesn’t make me feel like a number or inferior.

barryRichard is the best! He makes you feel very comfortable when you are a beginner and not in good shape. Which is when it REALLY counts! Being a good people person makes all the difference. He’s a great cheerleader! Impossible not to like the guy, and be motivated by him!

I’ve been training with Richard for about five years now. Having been active my entire 63 years, playing lacrosse in college and on through my 30s, and then climbing and hiking since then,I’ve had much experience with all kinds of coaches, trainers, and fellow exercise enthusiasts. I’m with Richard because he, much more than any other trainers I’ve been with, is focused on me and my workout at virtually all times.  No texting, no on the phone, no jawboning with others, and best of all, he’s doesn’t let a workout denigrate into a bull session.  Beyond that he has a sixth sense for how much you can take on any given day and then gets you there.  (You don’t have to tell him you have a hangover, he knows it as soon as he sees you.)  Best of all, over the last two years he’s been the biggest part in bringing me all the way back from a lower back fusion and then a total hip replacement. I can’t recommend him highly enough.
