Richard Wayne
Certified Personal Trainer and Owner of Instinct Fitness, LLC
I began working out at the age of 16 at boarding school in Northern California. One of my fellow students dragged me into the gym one day, about my third week of school. I was an out of shape teenager, with asthma, and had never been comfortable with my body. Getting into shape was something that I had always wanted, but I’d never had the discipline, direction, nor proper motivation. My friend showed me the ropes, explained what to do and why, and pushed me to work out almost every day. Soon the workouts became routine and certain daily customs began to change, including my diet. I wanted to live my life as a healthy person, no more being a slave to my cravings. A year or so after my first time in the gym, I began to help new kids arriving at my school with their workouts. At the end of my two year stint at boarding school I had gone from a 38 inch waist to a 30 inch waist. My body fat percentage had gone from 21% to 10%. For the first time in my life I could look in the mirror and feel good about myself.
I began personal training, as a side job, at the College of Charleston student gym in 1996. My thinking was that if I could make such positive changes to my own body, I could pass on my knowledge and help others do the same. I worked with numerous trainers throughout those years to learn as much as I could.
In 2003 I received my Personal Training Certification from PTI, The Personal Training Institute, and began training as a career. I worked for numerous gyms and studios until I started Instinct Fitness in 2008. And in 2012, I received my Masters Training Certification from PTI.
I love what I do. I get to teach, motivate, and help others every day. My specialties include:
Weight Loss, Weight Gain, Body Sculpting, Nutrition and Diet Analysis, Bodybuilding, Sport Specific Training, Competition Prep, and more.
No matter what your goal or motivation, Instinct Fitness can make it happen!
